As long as someone is doing it with their flag on their property, you're just "doing" something to someone that has done squat but use their rights which that flag is a symbol of. That's what the American flag has stood for, personal freedoms such as being able to burn/hang upside down that very flag itself. You can't do something like that in other countries, that's why America is great. Not because of this or that, but because of freedoms and rights just like this one.
make a threat downtown that you are going to kill the president and see how many freedoms you have. people can scream freedom of speech all they want but some lines you can't cross and that is one. you also can't just scream FIRE inside a crowded building if there isn't a fire.

If you're threatening someones life, that's called assault and has always been against the law. A lot people say things I disagree with, but it's their right to say them. Just like it's someones right to do whatever they won't to the flag, doesn't matter if another likes it - as long as they are not doing harm to another in the process, which this guy wasn't, the law is on their side.
Well, according to you, if someone assaults the flag, then to me that is assault and as such they deserve my wrath. You thoughts border on the line of anarchy.
I would be offended by this person's improper display of the flag, however, the many people who have fought for this country fought for this type of freedom. I think that there could be a better way to show his displeasure with the local government. What a lot of people seem to forget is that just because you have a right such as free speech, those rights come with consequences when used in a non traditional manner.

It's not according to me, its the definition of assault.
1. An unlawful threat or attempt to do bodily injury to another.
2. The act or an instance of unlawfully threatening or attempting to injure another.
This guy didn't threaten/harm anyone, verbally or physically. You'd have no leg to stand on if you did anything, "your right to swing your fist, ends at someones nose" so to say. Has nothing to do with anarchy simply because I defend a guy who was doing what he is allowed to do here in the U.S.. I don't like a lot of stuff I hear/see and find it offensive, doesn't mean they don't have the right to do so.
Put it this way, tread on or abuse the symbol of my country and you tread and abuse my rights. Plain and simple. What you say works both ways in my opinion.
Not really, as long has he isn't physically hurting or verbally threatening...he's practicing the very rights that flag stands for, like freedom of speech which is what he's doing.
It would have created a disturbance on the fourth though.
